Dr. Andrew Ruffer

Dr Ruffer has been a doctor for the past 24 years.  He qualified from St George’s medical School in 2000 and spent the early part of his career working in general practice.

Having completed his dermatology training in 2008, Dr Ruffer started working for the Worthing and Southlands Hospitals Dermatology team.  In 2014, he then went on to join The Sussex Community Dermatology Service.

 Over the past 16 years, Dr Ruffer has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience in general dermatology as well as the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancers.

 Dr Ruffer has a special interest in surgery and currently spends a portion of his week operating at Southlands hospital and in the community sessions.   He is incredibly passionate about his work and always strives to get the best cosmetic outcome for his patients.

In his free time, Dr Ruffer works as an expedition doctor, supporting  fundraisers on their charity expeditions.  He is flying out to Everest base camp later this year and has recently come back from an expedition to Jordan. He likes a challenge and has run several ultra marathons, including a  57 mile race in the French Alps.

To support his expedition work, Dr Ruffer worked part-time for 10 years as an A and E doctor before deciding to focus solely on dermatology. 

 Dr Ruffer is currently studying for a diploma in lifestyle medicine as he strongly believes that a healthier lifestyle can have a positive impact on all areas of a person’s life, including their skin.
