We normally do not contact your GP following cosmetic consultations/treatments.
No, we won’t access your NHS records unless your GP provides them in a referral letter. Therefore, it would be very useful if you bring any relevant medical history documents. If possible, include names of recent treatments/creams tried by your GP regarding your skin condition or any results of scans/blood tests to aid the doctor and minimise any duplication of tests.
Yes. If necessary, to confirm the diagnosis, your doctor can perform a skin biopsy at the same time as your consultation. A biopsy involves removing a very small amount of skin which is sent off to be analysed under the microscope by a histopathologist. This minor procedure takes 5 to 10 minutes and uses local anaesthetic. Your doctor will send results to you and your GP, usually within 7 to 10 days.
Absolutely! Seeing a private dermatologist at Laser and Skin Clinics does not exclude you from NHS care if you are normally entitled to it. If you prefer to continue treatment through the NHS, our doctor can can request a formal NHS referral from your GP.
No. We can only provide private prescriptions that you pay for at the pharmacy, regardless of your age. You can take these private prescriptions to any pharmacy. If you would prefer to have an NHS prescription, and are not in a rush to obtain your medication, our doctor can write to your GP requesting one. Your GP will usually oblige, providing it is within their remit to prescribe such medication.
Experienced doctors perform all cosmetic dermatology treatments, including Botox, fillers, deeper chemical peels and surgical procedures.
Aesthetic practitioners carry out some non-invasive procedures such as light chemical peels, radiofrequency skin tightening, dermarollers and some laser treatments. All treatments take place under the supervision of Dermatologists.
